Alcoholism and drug addiction are debilitating disorders affecting the body, mind and spirit. With timely intervention and a comprehensive plan, the chemical dependency diseases can be successfully managed using medical detoxification and 12-Step programs for recovery and relapse prevention.
Medically-managed detoxification balances concern for patient comfort with patient safety. A health history interview and physical examination are conducted by an addiction medicine specialist who designs a comprehensive individualized plan, taking into account substance abuse patterns, co-occurring diseases, and risk factors.
How does the treatment experience begin?
Each patient's stay begins with an evaluation by intake services. Our medical services team includes Physicians, Registered Nurse Practitioners, RN's, LPN's, and a variety of program technicians. The first 24 hours here is a busy time. Each patient has an extensive assessment by a licensed nurse. The medical team works to provide for the stability and safety of each patient and to determine his/her individual medical needs. In addition, each patient is oriented to the rules and policies of their program as well as to the facility. Patients are admitted to one of the following levels of care:
Center for Eating Disorders
Focus Healthcare also offers a Center for Eating Disorders. Center for Eating Disorders specializes in treating women, eighteen and older, suffering from anorexia, bulimia, binge eating and associated disorders.
Our residential inpatient facility provides a comprehensive program in a compassionate setting, focusing on whole person care and individualized treatment. We believe individuals can recover from eating disorders and lead happy, healthy lives. Center for Eating Disorders at Focus Healthcare is a place of hope, a place to heal, and a place to truly discover who you are.
Family Program
During an inpatient stay, affected family members are asked to attend the Family Education Program. It is an intensive educational and therapeutic program, which will involve both the family, and patient, as appropriate. Families begin their recovery process through a series of educational presentations, family group, counseling, reading/written assignments, and an introduction to 12-Step recovery.
Impaired Professionals Treatment Program
The Focus Healthcare Impaired Professional Treatment Program specializes in the residential setting treatment and care of individuals with alcohol and drug dependencies or other destructive behaviors. Our program is available to all chemically dependent individuals, and families, regardless of profession, educational background, or prior treatment experiences. The Impaired Professional Program typically consists of 28 days of detoxification and residential treatment. During and upon completion of the Impaired Professional Program, when applicable, Focus Healthcare of Tennessee will provide advocacy for the patient's Board of Licensure.
Aftercare/Continuing Care
After Care is open to all Focus Healthcare alumni and treatment facility referrals. After Care is a step down from Residential, and Intensive OutPatient and is offered at no cost. Alumni are welcome to participate in After Care for one year after treatment, in addition to attending 12 Step meetings and working with their sponsor. Focus offers After Care on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 - 7:30 pm.
